NEMA17 Closed-Loop Stepper Motor (17IE)
Product Overview
The NEMA17 closed-loop stepper motor (17IE) combines the popular 42mm NEMA17 frame size with a 1000-line incremental encoder, delivering the benefits of closed-loop feedback in the most widely used stepper motor form factor. This motor is available in 49mm and 79mm length variants with holding torque of 0.48 N·m and 0.72 N·m respectively, providing enhanced performance over standard open-loop NEMA17 motors while maintaining identical mounting dimensions.
The 17IE series features Adampower's 17H249ED1000 and 17H261ED1000 motor platforms, each available in three current ratings (0.6A, 1.2A, and 1.8A) to match different driver capabilities and speed requirements. The integrated 1000-line incremental encoder provides differential quadrature outputs (EA, EA-, EB, EB-) along with a 5V power supply input, enabling direct connection to compatible closed-loop stepper drivers. With the encoder feedback, these motors can achieve smooth operation at speeds exceeding 2000 RPM while maintaining full torque.
The NEMA17 closed-loop motors are particularly valuable in applications where positional reliability is important but space and budget constraints make servo motors impractical. The closed-loop driver automatically reduces current when the motor is holding position, minimizing heating and power consumption. Additionally, the active damping provided by the encoder feedback results in significantly smoother motion compared to open-loop operation, especially at resonance-prone speeds.
